Letters to Linda

Here are a sample of the letters I’ve received from you about the Pilgrim Cove series. Some were poignant, and some made me laugh, but all were appreciated. I’ve made a few comments afterwards.

Dear Linda…

“I cannot put into words how much I’ve enjoyed “The Daughter He Never Knew.” This is the best of all your books. Pilgrim Cove still has more people, so get busy!”

E.C. from Roanoke

“I have just recently read ‘The House on the Beach.’ I loved the characters you created, particularly the ROMEO’s. I really fell for them. I’m sixty-six…

B.L. from England

“Thank you for a heart-warming and courageous story battling breast cancer and allowing the character to still dream of the future. I am sending your book to my mother because she, too, is a breast cancer survivor…six years free.”

S. F. via e-mail

“I will be very frank and start by saying that I have never been a reader of romance or “feel good” type novels, but having stated that, I was totally entranced with your first two books set in Pilgrim Cove. I immediately felt like I was right there with the family and surrounding town…”

F.W. via e-mail

“When can I rent Sea View House? I could put my husband in the Crow’s Nest!! Really, these books are fantastic. “

Carm via e-mail

“If there were a place like Pilgrim Cove, I bet it would be overrun with tourists and new residents. I love it-- “

D.L. from Pompano Beach

“I’ve waited two years to read Jason’s story, and then I sniffed and wept my way through the first 50 pages or so. You did a great job…It was everything I wanted it to be…”

J. B. from Houston

“My sisters have been reading your books for some time. When I was home, they gave me the four Pilgrim Cove books. I couldn’t put them down. Is Pilgrim Cove a real place? More than anything, I loved the happy endings.”

N.B. via e-mail

“…I feel that the people of Pilgrim Cove have become part of my life…I hope you will revisit them and let us know what is happening in the families we have grown to love!”

MAW via e-mail

“I wish I had a place like Pilgrim Cove to escape to….”

P.B. via e-mail

Linda’s Comments:

Many of you yearned to live in Pilgrim Cove. Not because of the ocean, or the beach or the summer sunshine—but because of the people. We all want a group of ROMEO’s to care about us. We all want to belong someplace and know that friends and family care about us. We want to know that we’re safe. So, how do we make this dream a reality in our own lives? Maybe we need to make the first move. Maybe we can be better friends to others. Lend a hand even though we’re tired. Smile more often. Listen hard when someone unburdens her worries. We need each other to enjoy a rich life. So, stay in touch with your friends. Pick up the phone. Send an e-mail. Make the effort. This last advice came to me from my wise and wonderful Aunt Ethel, who by the time she passed away, had kept up friendships with some folks for almost eighty years.

I received many letters from people who have been affected by breast cancer either personally or through a family member or friend. I was humbled that you felt comfortable enough to share your stories with me. You are all in my prayers. For those who are curious, I’m now 4.5 years out from my own surgery. Month by month, I’m marching toward that 5 year goal, but I take nothing for granted. Vigilance is my code.

Thank again for taking the time to write. An author loves to know how a reader feels about her stories

Best always,

Linda
